Software und FirmwareSoftware and firmware
Lade die Begleitsoftware nur von der Website des Herstellers. Tipp die Adresse selbst ein, statt Anzeigen oder Links aus Mails zu folgen. Firmware spielst du nur über den offiziellen Weg des Herstellers auf. Bietet das Gerät eine Echtheitsprüfung an, nutz sie.Download the companion software only from the manufacturer's website. Type the address yourself instead of following ads or links from emails. Install firmware only through the manufacturer's official route. If the device offers an authenticity check, use it.
PIN festlegenSet a PIN
Setz eine PIN, die nicht naheliegt. Sie schützt das Gerät, wenn es verloren geht. Je nach Gerät löscht es sich nach mehreren falschen Versuchen. Dann brauchst du deinen Seed.Set a PIN that is not obvious. It protects the device if it gets lost. Depending on the device, it wipes itself after several wrong attempts. Then you need your seed.
Seed auf dem Gerät erzeugenCreate the seed on the device
Der Seed entsteht auf dem Gerät und wird nur auf dessen Display angezeigt. Schreib die 12 oder 24 Wörter in der richtigen Reihenfolge von Hand auf und prüf jedes Wort. Tipp sie nie in Computer oder Handy, mach kein Foto, speicher sie nirgends digital. Bewahre das Backup geschützt gegen Feuer und Wasser auf.The seed is created on the device and shown only on its screen. Write the 12 or 24 words down by hand in the right order and check every word. Never type them into a computer or phone, take no photo, store them nowhere digitally. Keep the backup protected against fire and water.
Passphrase, nur wenn du sie verstehstPassphrase, only if you understand it
Viele Geräte erlauben eine zusätzliche Passphrase zum Seed. Sie ist optional. Mit ihr entsteht eine andere Wallet, und der Seed allein reicht dann nicht mehr. Vergisst du die Passphrase, sind die Bitcoin weg, auch wenn du den Seed hast. Wenn du sie nutzt, sicher sie getrennt vom Seed und genauso offline.Many devices allow an additional passphrase on top of the seed. It is optional. With it, a different wallet is created, and the seed alone is then no longer enough. If you forget the passphrase, the bitcoin are gone, even if you have the seed. If you use one, back it up separately from the seed and just as offline.
Wiederherstellung testenTest the recovery
Bevor du nennenswert Bitcoin aufs Gerät schickst: Notier dir die erste Empfangsadresse, setz das Gerät zurück und stell es mit deinen Wörtern wieder her. Oder nutz die Prüffunktion des Geräts, wenn es eine hat. Erscheint danach dieselbe Adresse, stimmt dein Backup.Before you send any real amount of bitcoin to the device: note the first receive address, reset the device and restore it with your words. Or use the device's check function if it has one. If the same address appears afterwards, your backup is correct.

Beim Senden bestätigst du Adresse und Betrag ebenfalls am Gerät.Compare every receive address on the device's screen with the address on the computer, character by character, at least the start and the end. Malware can swap addresses on the computer screen, but not on the device's screen. When sending, you also confirm the address and amount on the device.
